Kingwood Trip #2

Kailey and I just spent a few days in Kingwood, again! Casey was supposed to be gone all week on a mission trip to Austin, so I planned on Kailey and I going down to Kingwood. We had a few days to relax down there, again. We went swimming and just hung around the house mostly. Kailey has not been in the best mood this week. This could have something to do with the fact that her right upper gum is extremely swollen, which means a tooth is probably going to bust through at any second!Yesterday we had the opportunity to visit with some of my very good friends! I took a few pics of Kailey having fun at my friend Jenn's parent's house in Kingwood! She got to play with her friends Meadow, Saige, and Zoey! Here are some pictures of the day, and a video of Kailey swinging on the swingset!

I Can't Help It!

I know that Caden is not my baby, but he is my nephew and I think he is adorable! So I can't help but to post these pics. His Aunt Sarah got him those cute socks!

This is Casey's sister (Kenya) and her husband (David) with Caden.

Caden David Soto

Well here are the first pics of our nephew!! We are so excited that he is here! The hospital where he was born is not busy today (thankfully!) so Kenya and David are able to have their own room with Caden tonight at the hospital! Things have been going really well so far. Please continue praying for the adoption to go as planned. The birth mother will be signing the papers on Sunday!

Here is Casey's sister Kenya, holding Caden for the first time!

Here is David's mother and Kenya and Casey's mother holding Caden for the first time!

The Waiting Game

***Update #2*** Caden David Soto is here! He arrived a little after 5:00! He weighs 8 pounds 6 ounces and is 20 inches long. The reason he was in distress is because the cord was wrapped around his leg! I don't know too much besides that, but will post more when I get more! :)

***Update*** I just got a call at around 4:15 that the baby is in distress and they are about to do a C-section. Please pray for that and the recovery time on that. They were hoping they wouldn't have to do a section, because now the birth mother will have to wait longer to sign the baby over to them. So please just pray for Kenya and David to keep their faith in God, that everything will work out!****

Well we are just in the waiting pattern now! The birth mother was induced at 5:00 this morning and she hasn't progressed much. As of about 12:00 she was 60 percent efaced and at 4 cm. Since then, it has stayed about the same. So we are just waiting around for that phone call! Hopefully soon! :) I'll update when I know something!

Adoption

We have some exciting things happening in our family this weekend! Tommorow my sister-in-law (Casey's sister) and brother-in-law are anticipating the birth of the baby they are adopting. The mom is being induced at 5:00am. Please pray for the birth to go smoothly! Also please pray for the birth mother and her family to be content with giving the baby away. This is going to be a very hard thing for her to do, and it is also going to be hard for Kenya and David to balance being happy for their new baby and being compassionate to the birth mother. So if you get a chance, please pray for them. They have wanted a baby for a long time, and it is almost here! I will keep you updated tommorow! Thanks!

Poor Addie!

Today I had to take Addie to the vet to get her teeth cleaned. The main reason she had to go though, was because she had two of her baby teeth that have never fallen out, and were impacted in her gums. So the vet had to put her under anesthesia and pull them out. When the vet called me to say she was ready, she told me that one of her teeth had pretty much fallen apart in her gums. I felt soo bad! I mean it is not like Addie could tell me she has been hurting, but that really must have hurt! For the rest of the day she has just been out of it. This is pretty much from her pain meds, but it is so sad! She just stands up and stares at me. Poor baby!

Playing outside

Today Kailey was really fussy so we tried a few different options. We went swimming in our baby pool. This lasted until she began pulling up on the edge and grabbing dirt and grass! After a little while I decided it would be fun to bring some of Kailey's toys out onto the deck, so she could play. She has always loved being outside for some reason, so she really liked it. She is really getting good at crawling around and she especially likes pulling up. She pulled up on the patio furniture all by herself! She truly believes she can stand on her own. If she pulls up on you, she just tries to let go!Needless to say she truly needed a bath for the first time ever. She was so dirty! Here is a really cute video that Casey made of her this morning. She is getting so fast!

Scary moment, but also cute!

I bet every mother has had something scary happen, that turned out cute in some form or fashion. Maybe?? Today when we got home from Kingwood, Kailey ate her lunch, played for awhile, and then was ready for a nap. In Kingwood, I could just put her in her pack-n-play, close the door, and she was out. So I thought," I'm going to do that with her in her crib". So I did. I turned her monitor on and she was talking to herself for awhile. I figured she would wear herself out and go to sleep. All of a sudden I heard her mobile start playing music. I was like "oh my gosh, did she pull herself up on her mobile???", and began running to her room. I didn't think it was actually possible for her to do that, so I was scared of what was going on! (It isn't possible, by the way). So I open her door and her princess netting (that is what I call it..) that had been hanging over her crib had fallen on top of the mobile. This happened because Kailey had pulled it through the slats on each end of her crib and wrapped her body in it at least 3 times. Luckily it was very thin, breathable material. I went over to her and she just goes "aha. ahahaha" She just started laughing at me. It was hilarious but needless to say, no more princess netting for Kailey!

She is growing so fast!

We just spent a week in Kingwood with 2 of my sisters, and my parents. We had a really good time just shopping, swimming, and spending time together. It is just crazy to me how much Kailey is growing! She started crawling while we were there, as I mentioned before. Now she just does it, like she has been doing it forever! She loves to pull up on things now too. It is so funny because it is as if she believes she can stand by herself. She will pull up on your hands and then try to let go. She would fall flat on her face or bum if you let go of course, but she acts like she doesn't know that. It is really funny! I forgot my camera's memory card, but I did get a couple pics!

These are of Kailey playing with my dad (paw paw). He used to pick me up and play with me the exact same way!

I also am including the video of the second time Kailey crawled for us. It is pretty much the cutest crawl you have ever seen!

She's crawling!!!!

Kailey started crawling today at Grammy and Paw Paw's house in Kingwood!! I am SOOO excited! I knew that she was getting really close, and she finally did it! I got it on camera, but do not have my cord with me to upload it. I will upload when I get back to Temple! I am so proud of her! I just thought I would share briefly! Yay!

Auntie Em and Aunt Lala

My sisters Emily (Auntie Em) and Laura (Aunt LaLa) came to visit today! We had a really good time just shopping and hanging out. We decided to go and look at the capitol building in Austin, also. I hadn't been there before, which is crazy because we live so close to it. We enjoyed just walking and taking pictures.

They also had a good time playing with Kailey here at home. She is getting sooo close to crawling! In fact, today she crawled for a couple of feet, we think. I was going to post a video that captured the moment, but for some reason, it will not post! Oh well, I will catch it again sometime!

Pulling up!

I mentioned the other day that Kailey has started pulling herself up! It is crazy! She just grabs ahold of something, and stands up! She is not really consistent with it yet, but it is definitely exciting whenever she does it. Today I was putting some laundry away in her room, and she grabbed ahold of the laundry basket and stood up. Casey held it so she wouldn't fall, and she took a couple of steps every now and then. She even got really close to her swing and reached for it! Like she was going to move over there, but then she fell and it was sad. Anyway, here are a few pics. They are kinda blurry. Probably because she was moving, and so was I (from excitement!)

Anything for Free Chic-Fil-A!

The other day, Casey came home and told me that if we dressed up like cows today, we would get free food at Chic-Fil-A. I was like, How fun! Especially to make Kailey a cow costume. Let's face it, she would look cute wearing a newspaper, so I knew she would look cute in a cow outfit! So yesterday we went to Wal-Mart and got stuff to make her look like a cow. Today we went to Chic-fil-A to get our free food. It was pretty embarassing because we were the only cows in the whole place. It was really funny though, and we definitely got a free meal. Kailey even got a kid's meal, even though she couldn't eat it. Here are some pics of our cute little cow!

One of those days...

I am very blessed because most days, Kailey is so happy. I mean she gets fussy here and there when she is hungry or sleepy. But other than that, she is happy. Except on days like today! It is always hard on days like today, because everything I try doesn't work! She is just very very fussy. I guess she is probably teething?? That is all I can figure out. I just know that this was one of those days where I barely got a shower and I definitely couldn't shave my legs!

But then she goes and does something to make me smile. She pulled herself up today! On our rolling laundry cart. I know, it sounds dangerous. But luckily, I am so behind on laundry, it won't roll. haha. Anyway, she pulled herself up! She has been pulling up on our fingers for a couple of weeks, but this was the first time she looked at an object and said "Hey I want to stand up!" and did! It was really neat. So even though today has been one of those days where I will shut the door to her room tonight and collapse, it was all worth it just to see her new milestone!

Happy 27th Birthday, Casey!

Yesterday was Casey's 27th birthday. I can't believe we are getting so old. But I'll save that for another post. haha We had a really good time yesterday night, because we got to go on a date! We haven't been on a date since my birthday in January. I decided to surprise Casey with where we were going for dinner. He is always asking me to eat asian food, so I decided we would go to P.F. Chang's in Austin. It was soo yummy! We had a really good time. We also got a piece of cheesecake at Cheesecake Factory, which is always a winner! I hope that you had a great birthday Casey, and I love you very much!

***Whew! I think this catches me up! 4 posts in one day oughta do it!***

7 months old!

Can you believe it? Kailey is 7 months old as of July 5. I can't believe this much time has already passed! Here are just a few things that Kailey has learned to do in 7 months:

*Smile
*Laugh
*Roll over both ways
*Sit herself up
*Pull herself up onto her knees in her crib
*Pull herself to her feet while holding onto her mommy or daddy
*Say phonetic sounds (ba ba ba and da da da)
*Eat jar food and cereal
*Sleep all night
*Move herself around the room by scooting and rolling (not crawling quite yet, but soon!)

She has brought us so much joy and laughter in 7 months, that I can't wait to see what she learns and does next! We love you Kailey!

Slideshow from Galveston Trip

I'm Back!

Well it has been awhile since I have posted, because we have been out of town and busy! We went to Galveston for the fourth of July with Casey's family. We had a good time relaxing by the pool, going to the beach, and going to Moody Gardens. It was Kailey's first time at the beach, and so that was fun to watch! She wasn't sure about the ocean waves, but she loved playing in the sand!

The best part about Moody Gardens was the aquarium. It was really cool! Kailey loved to watch the fish. She was pretty much mezmorized by all the fish swimming around her and over her head. It was really cute to watch!

Another thing Kailey enjoyed was riding on the air mattress as her Aunt Kenya blew it up. She had the best time! I am including pictures of this in the slideshow above. It is amazing what little things make her excited!

We also ended up celebrating Casey's birthday while we were there. His actual birthday was yesterday. In Galveston we went to a seafood restaurant named....Casey's! It was really really good and really cool that it had Casey's name!

Overall we had a good trip! We are glad to be home for now. Next week Casey is off to camp and I am off to Kingwood! Above is a slideshow if my favorite pics from our trip!

Injuries

I love the age that Kailey is right now, because she can play on her own. It is nice to be able to sit her on the rug and her be able to entertain herself for awhile. I love to watch her. I always wonder what she is thinking about as she twirls her toys in her hands. She is also getting pretty good at moving around the rug without crawling. She just kinda sits herself up and then throws her body across the rug, and then does it all over again until she gets where she wants to be. It is funny to watch. The one thing that I do not like about this age though is that she is starting to get hurt! I mean not bad hurt, but hurt. Like she will lose her balance and fall backwards. I don't know if it really hurts her, or just surprises her, but she cries anyway! It is sad to see her experiencing pain for the first time. I know that is definitely part of life, and that I have to just let her experience it, though. This makes me realize so much more, how hard it must have been for God to give us Jesus. I mean he didn't just fall over on the rug, he was really hurting. How was God able to stand watching us crucify his only son, if I can't even handle watching Kailey tip over on the rug! So profound, I know. That is so neat that God gives us children, and even before they can talk they teach us more about Him. Really cool....
